Ron Zeilstra is a Resource Development Manager with FortisBC. Ron has over 25 years’ experience working on energy resource policy, planning and development in British Columbia, and currently works on developing utility scale clean technology projects, including wind and solar generation and renewable hydrogen. Several of these FortisBC renewable generation projects have Indigenous partners. Ron lead the creation of the 2012 FortisBC Electric Long Term Resource Plan, and continues to be involved in assessing FortisBC electric resource options. Ron also has experience negotiating several BC Hydro Electricity Purchase Agreements and Electricity Supply Agreements for FortisBC and others.
Prior to joining FortisBC in 2010, Ron worked at Pacific Carbon Trust, Columbia Power Corporation, the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and the BC Ministry of Employment and Investment. Ron has been involved with several successful development projects in the Kootenays, including the Arrow Lakes Generating Station, the Brilliant Dam and Generating Station Upgrades, the Brilliant Expansion Generating Station, and the Waneta Expansion Generating Station.
Ron has a MBA from the University of Alberta, and a BSc in Geology from the University of Manitoba.
