Do you identify as a…

✔ Municipal leader,
✔ First Nations leader,
✔ Community leader,
✔ Or clean energy industry leader interested in partnering?

Then this is the ideal workshop to help any community reach its RE100 targets!

This workshop’s dynamic conversations will present you with the steps on how to get a project off the ground using different community models, ultimately showing why electrification is such a key part of transitioning to a low-carbon future.

The Government of BC’s CleanBC plan set an exciting and ambitious vision for BC’s future – this workshop will help to further focus on that vision. Through exploring the renewable energy trends to watch, early adopters will reap the benefits of staying ahead of the curve and taking advantage of clean technologies that are readily available.

This full-day workshop is being facilitated by Executive Director of the West Kootenay EcoSociety, Montana Burgess.

Session 1: Myth Busters

This session will dispel the common myths and concerns about committing to the RE100 movement. Is 100% renewable energy really possible? Unearth the challenges of this audacious goal and how to overcome them.

Session 2: BC First Nations Clean Energy Tool Kit

Dr. Judith Sayers of the Hupačasath First Nation helped to develop a substantial tool kit with the BC First Nations Clean Energy Working Group. Understand what it takes to develop a clean energy project with this practical and highly valuable step-by-step guide.

Session 3: Energy Sovereignty & Financing Projects

If a community wants change, it is possible. In this session, discover the different approaches that communities around BC have taken to increase their clean energy presence. There are potential regulatory changes on the horizon that would impact First Nation communities’ ability to operate their own utility. Learn how to prepare for such changes.

Session 4: Electrification

The path to becoming an RE100 community is more than just where the energy source stems from. Two areas that local leaders can help shape is low-carbon electrification strategies for transportation as well as the built environment. Deepen your understanding on how to design a solid electrification strategy that will lead to successfully reaching designated targets.
