Alex Love is an Electrical Engineer and the General Manager of Nelson Hydro in British Columbia.
His prior work experience includes several years in the high Arctic, NWT, Nunavut and Yukon, designing and building remote diesel power generating stations. Those are places where improving fuel efficiency really counts! They are also spectacular places to see – the vastness of the land always made an impression on Alex.
Nelson Hydro is a very interesting utility for Alex as he gets to develop new business opportunities such as building a Fiber Optic utility and he is currently engaged in setting up a District Energy heat utility. Nelson Hydro built Canada’s first community solar garden which has been in operation for two years now. The strategic objectives of Nelson Hydro include developing new energy projects that both reduce GHG impacts and generate new revenues – there are several business plans underway.
On the personal side Alex enjoys boating on the lake, woodworking and camping. There is synergy because all of those wood work mistakes make excellent campfires! His wife and two young adult children also enjoy the camping expeditions.
Alex is happy to be here today for the opportunity to meet more of the interesting people who contribute to the clean energy industry!
